I have always loved the vintage look. Our wedding had little vintage touches to it, so I knew exactly how I wanted to do Skylin’s first birthday. Vintage just feels timeless to me, there is a sense of coziness and warmth when I see a vintage piece. I am a very sentimental person, so maybe that is why vintage pulls me in.
I made the sign and the photo timeline. Most of the items I used for her party were thrifted or I already had. Beautiful does not have to be expensive.
My father-in-love made Skylin’s dress and it was STUNNING on her. I could not believe that he made it for her and I know it was stitched with love. This will be an item I keep and pass it down to her when she gets older.
I found the flowers and vases at my local thrift store. The other pieces like the music box and pearls my mother-in-love brought for her pictures. The music box was her nana’s so it made the pictures even more special.
We decided to keep it simple and get a cake made for her and doughnuts for everyone else.
She was unsure about eating the cake and did not want to touch it. Once I put some frosting in her mouth, it was game over. She dug into it and LOVED every second of it. Ginger Snapshots took the photos with some pictured by my father-in-love. They turned out SO good and she was able to capture her personality. I will cherish these photos forever.
It was simplistic, low-cost, and turned out more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Happy first birthday my sweet daughter. May you always know how much you are loved, wanted, and valued.
